LOTRO Professions Guide:
Everything You Need to Know About the Scholar

In this part of the LOTRO Professions Guide we'll be taking a look at the Scholar profession. This is one of my favorites along with the Cook and Jeweller. Scholars are the shiznit if you use a lot of morale or power potions. If you're an Ettenmoors PvMP type person, you may want to seriously consider this profession. I burn through potions out there like they're going out of style. Potions also sell for great prices on the auction house on most servers. This alone makes it a very useful and great choice.

I'm going to touch on the high level Scholar stuff that you can craft since that's where most of the value in crafting comes from. Here are the top things a Scholar makes in my opinion:

     • Morale Potions
     • Power Potions
     • Crafting Scrolls
     • Relics
     • Legendary Items

Morale Potions
For raiding, running instances, and partying down out in the Ettenmoors you'll definitely want to be packing a good supply of potions. Now... you can either rely on getting them from mob drops, bartering, or spending your hard earned gold at the auction house for them... OR you can make them yourself and also make a good chunk of change selling them. Like I said, pots alone are a great reason to be a scholar.

Power Potions
Obviously the same rational stands for power pots as for morale. For some reason the power potions seem to sell for more on the auction house... much it could just be me ;) Anyway, trust me... if you're a captain, minstrel, or any other caster or power hog class... you'll be glad you picked the scholar profession.

Crafting Scrolls
Crafting scrolls can come in handy and make you a bit of change at times on the AH. They basically give you a boost to your crit chances crafting. If you plan on crafting a lot, they're great to have. As a consumable item they almost always sell quickly as well. Another good reason to pick this craft.

Relics
Scholars can make a +50 and +100 power relic. Most people opt for the morale relics on their legendary items and weapons... but sometimes a power relic is useful. You won't find them selling the highest on the auction house, but they do sell. Although it's not the best, it's still a very useful.

Legendary Items
As I've said many times... it's my opinion that crafting legendary items is junk at this point in time. That may change in the near future, but who knows. Still, of all the craftable legendary items, the scholar has some of the best. They can make minstrel books and loremaster books. These are usually very important, especially for minnies. If you happen to make a good one they can sell for quite a bit... or will make your alt minnie a great healer!

If I had to choose I'd probably go with the jeweller... but the Scholar is a solid choice as well. It's certainly always been one of my top three favorites... so you can't go wrong here.

I hope you found my LOTRO Professions Guide helpful. I plan on continuing to add to it, so check back often! And as always, let me know if you ever want information on any other crafting topics or have other requests!
